μMeta is a laser marking workstation commonly used for permanently marking parts that are manufactured from most metals and some plastics with logos, general text, serial numbers and many formats of coding. It has 305 x 305mm T-slot work area with a fully automatic, pneumatically operated access panel that provides the operator with an immediately obvious indication when the job has finished, (the door goes up), as well as 180° access to the work area. μMeta can be configured with a variety of lens options and with 450mm of Z-axis travel distance controllable by software. It can also be fitted with an optional rotary axis chuck for cylindrical objects. μMeta is designed to be space and energy saving and is manufactured using recyclable materials
uMeta comes with a 110mm lens a s standard be can be fitted with 70mm or 180mm lens to vary the focal length and optimise the speed and quality of the mark.
Convenient hands-free low noise and minimal wear/tear operation
The T-Slot solid aluminium worktable combined with a pointing laser delivered through the lens allows accurate and stable fitting of jigs, reducing set up times.
uMeta comes with powerful Lotus Mark enriched feature software.
Controlled by software the Z axis provides super-fast set up and the ability to mark objects at multiple heights in a single job.

Lasers are now an essential tool in industry for cutting, marking and engraving a vast range of materials. In virtually all these operations some form of fume is given off as the laser thermally decomposes the substrate to a greater or lesser degree. This fume is a mixture of particulate and gaseous matter.
Fume from materials such as metals and glass is mainly particulate, the majority of which is less than 1µ (micron) in diameter. Organic materials, particularly plastics, produce much more complex fumes which require a greater level of extraction. Most of the particles are spherical and roughly 90% by weight are less than 1µ in diameter. These particles fall within the respirable range and need to be removed from the working environment to prevent bronchial or lung damage. These gaseous organic compounds produced are known as Volatile Organic Compounds, VOC's.
CSI have teamed up with BOFA International to offer a range of self contained fume extraction systems to suit your chosen laser and create a safe working environment.
Standard Features
· Digital flow control system
· Blower with high airflow and pressure
· Low cost replacement filters
· Low noise levels
· Filter condition indicator
Optional Features
· VOC gas sensor (Volatile Organic Compound)
· Remote stop/start interface
· Filter change / System fail signal
For extra convenience uMeta can be fitted with an external push button or foot switch to activate the making process.
For marking cylindrical objects the uMeta rotary device grips the part while turning it during the marking process to hold an accurate focal point.
The source is a fibre laser: a fibre optic cable that has been doped with ytterbium, a rare earth element.
The fibre laser produces the same wavelength of light and the same marks. YAG lasers typically require cooling and more maintenance.
1060-1079nm
Yes, especially to the operator's eyes. Additionally, the wavelength will pass through common Lexan or glass materials, which is why the viewing window has been impregnated with an organic compound that absorbs the fibre energy. Do not run the laser with the safety door open.

All metals can be engraved into with some depth; however, some metals are more amenable to depth engraving. Softer aluminium material will engrave with depth with only a few passes. The best way to test your material is with our Applications Lab.
No. It is a dedicated engraving/marking system for metals and industrial plastics
30kg
200mm. 2kg in weight
The uMeta comes with easy-to-use LotusMark software which gives total control on speed , power and engraving direction.
You can engrave text, logos, barcodes, scanned photos, , bitmaps, and AutoCAD files. Essentially, if you can print it, you can engrave it. Keep in mind the higher the quality of the graphic you're working with, the better your engraving results
Yes, the laser is completely safe to operate. It is a Class 2 laser - which means that the laser is secured with interlock devices so it will not run with the cover up. The system has an emergency stop and isolation key switch and a safe viewing window. No special safety gear is required to run the laser.
The LotusMark software is Windows based and connected to the laser via USB to a max length 2.5m.
Your standard off the shelf laptop is adequate.
When laser marking materials they will give off some form of fume as the laser thermally decomposes the substrate to a greater or lesser degree.
The uMeta laser must have some form of fume extraction fitted. We recommend a suitable filter based self-contained fume extraction system to create a safe working environment.
The cost of the uMeta laser systems is determined by the power of the laser source and the accessories required They can be bought outright or leased through one of our finance partners. For more information on how to own your own laser please contact our sales team.
