The Beginning: A Spark of Independence

CSI Manufacturing was founded in 1995 by Matt Kirwan, with a simple but powerful vision: to be his own boss and to fill a vital gap in the market. As an electrician by trade, Matt saw the need for a technically qualified person to source products that traditional buyers might struggle to find for electrical contractors.

That vision came to life with CSI’s very first order worth just £2.40. It may have been a small beginning, but it was the first spark that lit the way for everything that followed.

The Journey: Growth, Grit, and Milestones

Over the past three decades, CSI Manufacturing has achieved milestones that once seemed unimaginable. Defining moments include gaining the UK distribution rights for Rowmark, Epilog and Vision Engraving machines—partnerships that transformed our reach and reputation. One of the proudest came when we secured an order for 121 Vision engraving machines in the UK.

Through it all, one lesson has remained constant for Matt and CSI Manufacturing: never stand still. In an ever-changing industry, adaptability has been the key to our resilience and growth.

People and Culture: The Heart of CSI Manufacturing

Our story is not just about products and milestones. It is about people. Employees are the heartbeat of CSI Manufacturing. They are the reason our customers return time and again, and they are the foundation of everything we have achieved.

Longevity runs deep here. Many of our team members have been with CSI Manufacturing for decades, some almost the full 30 years, and we are proud to even have second-generation employees among us. One vivid memory Matt recalls is a young Carl sitting on his dad’s lap as he drove the forklift on a Saturday. Today, Carl is part of the team himself. That sense of family and continuity is what makes CSI Manufacturing truly unique.

A Turning Point: Joining TRG

In late 2020, CSI Manufacturing was acquired by TRG. The takeover became a reality in early 2021, and our team and the way we worked remained the same. What changed was the scale of our ambition. Backed by TRG’s investment, we accelerated plans to enhance operations, broaden our capabilities, and lay the groundwork for a brand new site in Weston-super-Mare.

Our Move to Weston-super-Mare

That investment enabled us to make a step-change in how we serve customers. The move to Weston-super-Mare provided modern facilities, expanded warehousing and improved logistics, helping us deliver faster, more reliably, and with even higher quality. It also placed us in a thriving community with access to great local talent and partners.

From fit-out to first shipments, the move was a team effort and a proud moment in our history, marking the beginning of our next chapter.

The official opening of our Weston-super-Mare site stands as a symbol of our growth, commitment, and contribution to the community. We take pride not only in our achievements but also in the difference we have made in the lives of employees, customers, and partners over the years.
